Question

Locked

Recycle Bin

By nztwig ·
I accidentally deleted a microsoft word file today (<50kb) using Windows Explorer. No problem I thought, I'll just retrieve it from the recycle bin. But, the file's not there. The recycle bin is NOT set to remove files immediately. Does Windows XP have two recycling bins? Any light that can be shed on this enigma would be most appreciated.

was it a network drive?

by BizIntelligence In reply to Recycle Bin

If you delete anything from network drive (network drive is a drive which is mapped to a folder on Server) then you wont find it in your recycle bin.

Or

If you have pressed shift key and del together then also you wont get anything.

As size was <50KB then we can eliminate size error.

Cheers !

Couple of things to try

by Jacky Howe In reply to Recycle Bin

If you held the Shift Key as you deleted it will bypass the Recycle Bin.

This tool is best used by adding the drive as a Slave to the Recovery System.

Was it a system or hidden file - if so you

by Deadly Ernest In reply to Recycle Bin

have to set Explorer to display system and hidden files or it just won't show in the folder. Also, you have to open the Recycling Bin for the drive it was on when you deleted it, if you have more than one drive.
