Recycle Bin is bad at the desktop.

When you double click the desktop icon, the Recycle Bin just jumps to a task on the taskbar. I won’t let me right-click the task and open it or restore the window. It just sits there when I try. I CAN however, go into Windows Explorer and click on the Recycle Bin and see what’s deleted. I can also restore and permanently delete the files from Explorer. The Recycle Bin seems to work fine as long as I get to it thru Explorer. Hopefully there’s a quick fix for this one. The company President, that has the problem on his laptop with all of its odd device drivers, seems to think this is a simple fix.

Try this, delete the recycle bin. I would do it in DOS, at boot up hit F8 and then choose command prompt only. Then enter the following commands

      attrib -r -s -h C:\recycled
      deltree c:\recycled

This will delete the Recycle Bin, if he has more than one drive be sure to delete the recycle bins on the other hard drives also.
When windows restarts it will recreate the recycle bin. This came from Microsoft Article ID: Q246726 Good luck.

      Just delete your “Recycled Bin”:
      In MS-DOS box type:
      1) attrib -h -r -s c:\Recycled\info*.*
      2) del C:\Recycled\*.*
      (Answer YES to all questions)
DO IT FOR ALL YOUR DRIVES
Now, when you delete something again or reboot system – all willbe fixed automatically.
