Recycle bin malfunctioning problem

By julcon ·
Anybody knows why the recycle bin on Windows 2000 Server (stand alone) suddenly stopped catching deleted files upon hitting the Delete button as it normally supposes to do and actually did previously?
How to fix this problem and make the deleted files again go to the recycle bin first?
A swift response will be highly appreciated.

Regards,
Constantine

Right click on the bin and select ..

"Properties", then you can choose which option you want the bin to do, either to delete straight away or to catch the program or files in the bin to delete later.

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.

Recycle Bin keeps malfunctioning

by julcon In reply to Right click on the bin an ...

Dear Peconet Tietokoneet,
thank you for your fast response.
Unfortunately, my recycle bin keeps malfunctioning. The option "Do not move files to the Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted" in the "Properties" is UNMARKED as it was before. The option "Display delete confirmation dialog" is MARKED as it was before, and it is working properly showing the warning.
Thus, the problem is something else.
Can it relate to the recent failure of one of my two RAM memory chips?

Have you got all of your updates?

If not then download the service patch 1 (SP1), and install this. This might cure it.

Microsoft support relates to different systems

by julcon In reply to See if this helps

Dear True Blue,
thank you for your attention.
Unfortunately, the Microsoft support you mentioned relates to different systems:
APPLIES TO
? Microsoft Windows 95
? Microsoft Windows 98 Standard Edition
? Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 Standard Edition
? Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 Developer Edition

My system is Windows 2000 Server (stand- alone), therefore I don't want to take a risk following the procedures suitable for other systems.
I'll try to follow your advice about Tech Support Forum, though.
Thank you.
Regards,
Constantine
