Red Hat Certification: is it worth it?

By Mastertone_Tech ·
I've been taking UNIX/Linux classes for about one year now. I still have six more months to go (advanced systems administration, security and shell programing) in order to complete the course and try the certification.

My experience is 10 in WAN adn telecommunications - copper, fiber optics, DS1, DS3, OC levels.

I'm trying to diversify my skill set and either make a move within the company I've been working for these last ten years or attempting the federal government.

The government at some point was starting talks with open source and implement Linux in several agencies. However, most people tell me Windows is the only OS used in the federal government. Recently I read Apple's popularity place Linux under the shadows.

Another reason why I decided to go for UNIX/Linux is due to the UNIX skills obtained.

So, my question is, is it worth to continue pursuing the Red Hat Certification?
