redesigning network

By bw ·
I am considering redesigning the network at my office for 100tx access for some users on my system.I am currently using 10 base for all users, with a dsl router for internet.we also host for some of our customers.I have several netgear 10/100 hubs & would like to setup the system for 100 base access to a few power users in my system. Any suggestions

Well,I dont know how many users you have, but one solution is to get a 100tx switch and plug your hubs into the switch and plug the power users into the switch directly. A switch gives you 100tx per port, where as a hub will split the 100tx among the connections. Your current hubs should autosense the network cards you have and run at either 10 or 100 depending on the card

1. Change NICs on Servers & Power user systems to 100mbps.
2. Use Layer-3 Switches that support 10/100mbps.
3. split your Network by having one Switch connected to the Router & connet Proxy to it & other Switches to proxy. This way Proxy will sit in between the users & Intenet.
4. Use NAT on Router or Proxy Server for users giving them non-internet IPs. Your hosting Servers can be on the first switch connected directly to Router haibg valid IP addresses.
Hope these tips help, else do email me @ Akashdeep_b@yahoo.com
