Reduce Landscape Excel Spread sheet and

By dorothy.johnson ·
I am revising work instructions for my work group. One of my co-workers created an Excel Spread sheet on 8 x 14 inch paper. I want to know how to get the same page reduced down to 8 x 11 keeping the same landscape format, but showing is landscape format in a Word document that is Portrait. You still have to turn the page side ways to read it, but when I use Insert, then Object, it give me the information overlapped on the page that is unreadable.

thanks, Dorothy

In Word, make a separate section in the document for the page to contain the worksheet. In that section, use File/Page Setup to set Landscape mode just for that section. Then insert the worksheet, and use the properties in Word to scale the worksheet to the correct size.

Dorothy, I would handle it this way. Highlight the cells in the Excel file you want to insert into the Word document. Select copy.

Now open your document in Word. Place your insertion point where you want to paste the spreadsheet in. From theEDIT menu select PASTE SPECIAL. Choose MICROSOFT EXCEL WORKSHEET OBJECT from the dialog box that appears and click OK.

This will insert the spreadsheet into your Word document as an object. You can then use the sizing handles to reduce the sizeaccordingly.

You should be able to change the page to landscape format just by using PAGE SETUP in Word.

Hope this helps.

The Section trick will do the work fine. Before making the section thing however, and since this will create at least 3 sections (regular/ portrait; landscape with the spreadsheet; back to regular / portrait), you should check what will happen with page headers/ footers and specially page numbering.
Make your changes work (or switch back) before spending too much time on the spreadsheet paste and formatting: the page numbering thing will make you crazzy anyway -and does not work the same in Word 97 and 2000.
