Reduce Workbook Size

Another common issue I've encountered is with workbooks that should be 100KB that are showing up as 4MB, or even up to 20/30MB.

Excel doesn't save all of the millions of cells in a workbook. Instead it saves everything from the top-left used cell, down to the bottom-right used cell. If your table is from A1:T430, that is what it saves. If you go crazy on the formatting and accidentally format down to T65500, excel will save all of it.

The easiest fix I've found is to go to the bottom of my used range in each spreadsheet. I then delete all rows starting from the first "unused" row down to the bottom (I select the first row using my cursor, then hold Ctrl-Shift-DownArrow to select all the way to the bottom). This should **** away any unwanted values, formats, etc...

Common causes:
Validation cells that were copied all the way down - they tend to be nearly invisible if you aren't thinking to look for them.
Stray conditional formatting can be very hard to track down, and also is fairly memory intensive.
