Reformatted Laptop; need to upload Excel file into Outlook Addresses

By millmom500 ·
I had to reformat my laptop. (XP) I backed up my add'l address book in an Excel format. Now when I try to upload it into Outlook's Personal Address (add'l Address Book)- the message states that the file has to be in a *PAB extension. (Obviously that is not how I saved the file, and I can't change the PAB to anything else in order to upload? Any HELP??

Obvious answer . . .

Load the file back into Excel, then save it again in an acceptable format.

Alternately, open Excel and Outlook simultaneously, copying over by whatever means your fingers can accomodate.

Which tool are you using

I don't recall the sequence so forgive me if I lead you down a poor road. It sounds like you are using the "import" tool in Outlook. That tool should also accept a .csv extension. But it sounds like it is requiring a .pab. So open the file in Excel (after backing it up). Now use the "export" tool in Excel to take the file to Outlook.

This should solve your problem but please post back if it does not.
