I just got my TechRepublic ‘Windows NT Tips’ with the subject ‘User profiles-keep them slim and trim’.
So I manually place the registry entry in my machine to try it out. It works.
Now I create a REG file by exporting my key. The contents look like this;

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
“ExcludeProfileDirs”=”Temporary Internet Files;History;Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express”

The problem is, this REG file refuses to merge. REGEDIT reports it worked ok even when run by an administrator but it does not show up unless entered thru the registry editor.
Anyone know why?
