I’ve got a Win 98SE Dell Dimension laptop that is displaying MFC42.dll errors when trying to get Internet email in Outlook 2000, using an Earthlink account. I replaced the MFC42.dll in the Windows system folder and the MFC42.dll stopped occuring with Outlook, but now appears when trying to run Norton SystemWorks 2000 programs.
While attmepting to investigate this MFC42.dll issue, I tried to run regedit. I found it will not load from the run command nor when double-clicked.
I have searched two antivirus sites to see if the symptoms matched any known viruses, the MS Knowledgebase, and numerous other places- all to no avail…
Has anyone seen this before?
