Good Day, I have a issue with my PC that is driving me crazy. My BIOS is detecting my CD-ROM as well as my CD Burner but when I go into My Computer none of the devices are there. I went into device manager and I had a error code 19. I tried uninstalling both devices both still no go. Troubleshooter for Windows 2000 informed me that I might have a corrupted file in my registry. I ran Norton Utilities Disk Docter, it detected other problems with my PC but not this issue. With hours of trouble-shooting I found out that the ENUM file in H_key_Local Machine>services has been deleted, the CD ROM and CD Burner depend on this file. Can someone please assist me in resolving this issue.

Thank-You!

Use your install media and do a reinstall -- to be more precise do a repair on an existing installation. Hope this helps

two choices:
first, reinstall your operating system

second, import the registry key from someone else's computer. (warning: this may kill your computer's operating system, then you'll have to reload anyway.)

another option is to connect to a networked cdrom drive, then run a repair install of W2K
