Is it a good idea to delete things off my registry? I feel that there are a few things in my registry that I can live without. But I feel that if I start hacking at my registry that I will delete something that I will despretely need and my whole computer will be corrupted. And I have Windows Vista.

Before attempting to edit the registry answer these

1. Do you have an idea of what the effect will be?
2. Did you backup data?
3. Did you backup the reg?

Now, if the answer to any of those is 'no' then it is not a good idea unless it is on a test system.

If you are looking to regain space, this is not the place to do it.

If you are looking to disable services/programs or edit how the system/programs behave, this is a place to do it. But be forewarned that a mistake can be very costly in time, and often leads to a rebuild.
