registry checker

by kato2 . Updated 24 years, 6 months ago

I have a fairly new system (6 months old) and am experiencing problems with the registry. Occasionally on boot, at the main windows screen the registry checker would indicate a problem accessing the registry and request a reboot, even though no newsoftware had been installed. Usually a reboot would take care of the problem. On two occasions on reboot, the registry checker would run in a DOS screen (before Windows finished loading), request a reboot, and just get stuck in a loop of running the registry checker and requesting a reboot. On each occasion I finally had to format the drive and reload everything. Even after doing this, on the final restart of the Windows installation, it ran the registry checker to correct the system.dat. Could there be a CMOS or hardware problem? Am running fine, but leary of this problem recurring. Any thoughts?
