Registry Date length resetting.

By Steve Penn ·
I'm running Citrix on Terminal Server and I have a problem. I need the date format on the locale setting to be dd/mm/yyyy. However something is writing back the format to be dd/mm/yy which causes big problems with one of my apps. I'm using policies instead of roaming profiles. I've tried editing the users registry settings directly as well as editing the NTConfig.POL through the registry editor and I've also tried using the policy editor itself. I've also changed the 'default user' settings butsomething is still writing back the default settings. Does anyone know what it is? HELP!!!!

There are 3 MS KB articles that seem to pertain. In particular, the last two seem to address your problem.
1) "Q241671 - How to Configure the Short Date Format in Windows and Windows NT" ( http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q241/6/71.ASP }
2) "Q248142 Default System Date Behavior in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000" ( http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q248/1/42.ASP )
3) "Q242257 Short Date Format Uses Two-Digit Year Instead of Four-Digit Year"( http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q242/2/57.ASP )

Top stuff. The policy template worked a treat. There was a confict with the international settings template which was causing it to write back to a dd/mm/yy format, which has now been sorted. Cheers - Well worth the points..
