I changed the hardrive on a pc because I was
getting regitry error after installing win98.I stil recieved registry erors after installing new harddrive and installing win98. I also changed memory and still got registry errors. Can something physically damaged within the pc be giving me registry errors.

This is interesting. To answer your question, sure, any component could cause registry errors. But it's possible that your copy of windows is corrupt. Try installing a different copy and see how that goes. If that doesn't do the trick, try replacing components one by one. First, remove all components except for the hard drive, floppy, motherboard, processor, ram and video card (Include the power supply though :)) Reinstall and see if there are errors. If there are, replace the cpu first, then the video card. It's very doubtful the floppy drive would cause errors. Following these steps will resolve your errors. If the errors continue, one of the components you already replaced are causing the error.

Some components can cause Registry errors, but you were getting the registry errors before you installed the hard drive meaning the setup and installation of WIN98and possibly the memory could have not been compatible, the bus speed will have something to do with it also, depending how fast the memory is being accessed through the bus.

You might lost your NIC card. Network cards give the best registry errors. Did you switch network cards without updating your drivers? Just a thought. What was the error?

Are you running a Cyrix or IBM chip? or an early AMD k5?
If not then almost for sure you have a wacky motherboard.
