registry error

I have a big problem. when i started my Windows xp on a blue screen show me a massage "registry error" 0x00000051, but when i started new instalation of my WinXp time and time show me this error. Please help me. Thanking you in advance.

This problem may occur when Configuration Manager does not correctly verify hive data. When this problem occurs, an incorrect list value may be returned if the list count is zero (0).
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix.

can you log on at all? can you log on under safe mode with networking to download all updates?

If you have a corrupt registry, the only 2 options are to repair registry (see answer above) or do a clean install of XP. A repair installation of XP will not work since it maintains the existing registry data that is corrupt.

You can connect your hard disk to another XP or 2000 PC with a CD or DVD burner to back up data. It is still readable just not bootable. There are also utilities that will allow you to read NTFS partitions from a DOS boot disk. You are limited to using a floppy drive for backup though.
