I use Windows XP Pro on an HP Desktop. I somehow lost the AuthorSCript.dll file and was told by HP to do a PC System Recovery. When I tried I got the following message:
STOP: 0000218 {Registry Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\system\system32\config\security or its log or alternative.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.
Can you tell me what has happened here and how I can fix that?
