Registry Issue

By outlawmech ·
Is there a good registry cleaner for WinXP??
That wont be more of a hassle than its worth or am I deluded??

WinXP home box won't correctly install software and or gives errors. I have cleaned up what I can
find. But, I still get issues it boots, but I can't remove some software and it won't correctly take new stuff.

I figure I'm looking at a format reinstall of the OS.

Try
TuneUp Utilities 2006 (trial-version), it takes the best results for me.

I've found Iolo's System Mechanic to work fairly well but only download the System Mechanic not the Pro version and try it as it has a 30 day trial and has everything that the Pro Version has except an AV Program.

for simple home use I like CCleaner.

It'll remove unused registry entries, as well as delete a bunch of unused files (temp, cache etc etc).

I use several of the registry cleaners mentioned, but still had issues.
As a work around until you find an answer [I'm also seeking a solution, try setting up a new USER on your machine. I did that and whatever was causing my
issue was in a file somewhere under my original USER. Using Add /Remove never completley took out the program I'm having difficulty with. But as a New USER - seems to have fooled or acted as a workaround to whatever was / is the cause.
