Registry Recovery; Sys Restore w/n work

I’ve been getting the following message on boot: “One of the files containing the system’s registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful.” However, when I re-boot, I get the same message every time. I’ve attempted to run System Restore, but no matter how far back I go, I get “Your computer cannot be restored to:…choose another restore point. What could be causing this/or can I do to fix this.
