Registry Recovery; Sys Restore w/n work

By rio_bt ·
I've been getting the following message on boot: "One of the files containing the system's registry data had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful." However, when I re-boot, I get the same message every time. I've attempted to run System Restore, but no matter how far back I go, I get "Your computer cannot be restored to:...choose another restore point. What could be causing this/or can I do to fix this.

There are several programs around that can recover a Registry Error one of the best that you can download for a free 30 day fully working trial is Iolo System Mechanic at

http://www.iolo.com/sm/download.cfm

Only download the System Mechanic and not the Pro version as it has an AV product in it which will not be at all helpful and run the Registry Scan with this program. It will cure any Registry Faults that have cropped up as well as perform a general clean up of the HDD. But just DO NOT run the Delete Duplicate Files option as you will destroy the Windows Installation as there are many files that have the same name but with a different extension and they do have to be there.

If you like what the program does you can always buy a copy of it after the Trial Period particularly if you are one of those people who are constantly installing and deleting software otherwise just delete System Mechanic after the 30 Days has expired and everything should remain OK.

Ran the program, but while it found and cleaned some areas, I still get the same error right befoe logon, and after.

Well in that case it sounds like time for a reload.
