I was given a Hp Compaq nx9010 laptop to fix, unfortunately it did not have a power adapter.I searched around and got an 18.5V,4.9amp,90watts hp adapter which was nearer to the specified 19V,4.75amp,90watts.It worked OK for 3days with frequently overheating, later the adapter just blew up/short circuited from the inside with a pop sound.
What i wanted to ask,is that could the short-circuiting up of the adapter have caused any damages to the laptop m-board?! And what might be the probable reason for the adapter to blow up?!!(could that slight difference in Volts & amps cause this tragedy)
Mind you,the laptop is a high performance one with two fans at the bottom and one at the rear.
Please advice.
Thanks
