Just for precautions I would suggest that you backup the software if possible,in case something goes not according to plan.
Upgrading the OS should not effect the applications yet there are times, yet you may be prompted to reinstall certain applications because, they may not work properly when you install OS.

You can not Upgrade Pro to Advanced Server. You will have to do a seperate/clean install of Adv Server and reinstall all the apps. This follows the same rules as NT ie. Workstation could not be upgraded to Server.

I am not sure if you mean Win 2000 Server or Win 2000 Professional. (ie: Workstation on Steroids) If you want to install Advanced Server as an upgrade to W2k Server, you should not have any problems. Be sure to back up your data first. If you have Windows 2000 Professional installed, you will have to perform a complete install.
Good Luck!

The upgrade from Win2k Pro to any member of the Win2k Server family is not supported. Therefore, you'll end up losing all of your program settings.
