Reinstalled XPhome, partition broken

By tony.appel ·
I had a virus/spyware problem that corrupted some windows system files among other things. I reinstalled XP over the top of the old installation on my C: drive.

My machine has 2 HD's Disk1 is C: and E:, disk 2 is and F:

After installing XP again, windows cannot read the E: drive, says it is not formatted. C and E were already NTFS drives before the re-install.

How can this be repaired. I have searched for solutions, but many results vaguely refer to my problem.

thanks in advance.

If you are using Windows XP there is a great Knowledgebase article at Microsoft about the Disk Management tool at:

go to control panel then, select performance @ maintainance then administrative tools, then go to computer management, then disk management. from there you can see the status of your hard drive.
