Reinstalling NT into new directory

After updating Windows critical files, and rebooting the NT workstation I received the following message STOP: MISSING SYSTEM FILES
The required system file Display_driver.dll is bad or missing. MS tech site is suggesting a parallel installation of Windows NT and start to that installation… I’m not sure how to accomplish this, can anyone help? I’m not receiving a DOS prompt, so I can’t cd into the correct directory for copying?
