I tried to reinstall WIN98 before and I lost all my settings! So, is there a way to back up my local settings to be restored after reinstalling?

go to start, click find, type in PROFILE and you can copy these files to your backup media. These files will hold your desktop pic/font/colors, screensaver, startmenu, mydocumets, ect. Remember that if you are pointing your desktop to a picture, that picture will need to be backed up independently from your profile. Same thing as the screen saver. If you are using ms included pics and scsavers no worries just copy your profile to the new machine and you should be good. (make sure you match the profile to a username on the new machine.

The easyest way is to save the registry (RUN -> REGEDIT then export registry in a safe location) then reinstall windows 98 and merge the registry.

PS. If u want to save your e-mails as well you have to copy the following folder: Windows\Application Data\ “some numbers” \outloook express
