Remedy buy out

By ggartner ·
I have been hearing some rumblings from around that users who are currently on Remedy are being forced to upgrade to the Peregrine helpdesk system and that there will be no patches or upgrades available from here out.

Anything that anyone has heard would be appriciated.

Expect some major changes...

This was the approach Peregrine took with the Tivoli Service Desk customer base when they purchased that product last year. However, I think they learned their lesson from this and genuinely believe in some attributes of the Remedy product line. Ithink we'll see an eventual convergence of functionality, re-architected to be more webified(requiring existing Remedy AND Peregrine customers to upgrade/migrate to a new product). A reasonably straight-forward upgrade path would be somewhat of a requirement. Although, Peregrine doesn't have much competition out there either. Check out the point/counterpoint articles in the Cctober IT Support News (www.itsupportnews.com). Counterpoint comes from Fred Luddy, Peregrine's CTO. He makes some interesting comments re product development roadmap. The way I read it:
- some Tivoli TSD features will be baked into the next release of ServiceCenter (due out end of year);
- long term technology strategy for combined companies (Peregrine and Remedy) is still in-process;
- indicates that the goal is to move the Peregrine platform toward an end-solution that provides the best of Peregrine w/ the open-architecture of Remedy ARS.
