What is the best option for remotely connecting to a network over a 56k dial-up connection?
SCENARIO:
I will be going on “vacation” soon and wanted a way to connect to the network at work in case of any emergency (I’m the only IT person there!)
AT WORK:
We are connected to the internet via a 256K ADSL connection being shared through a Win2K Pro machine. I set up an ‘Incoming connections’ network connection on the Win2k machine enabling VPN connections to connect to our Netware network.
AT HOME:
Connected using both the VPN connection and a direct-dial up connection (Using Windows XP Pro and Netware 4.83 client). These were unbearably slow!
What other methods do you recommend that I try or is there no hope for the 56K dial-up?
