Remote access to change NT password

By spcgreg ·
I would like to know how I can remotely change a windows nt password from workstation to workstation. Is there any software available that will allow me to perform this task without visiting the site.

I don't know the reason why would you like to change password on each workstation. It's much better to have NT server configured as Domain Controller and have all the users log on to domain. This provides centralized administration of user accounts.

However if that is not good for you, you may try some of remote control tools. Some are free and some you have to buy. The best is Symantec PCAnywhere (not free). The free ones are VNC from AT&T (I think) and MS Netmeeting 3 (comes with IE5.5). NM3 has Desktop sharing option. Perhaps this may help you.

If you can get hold of the NT Workstation Resource Kit utilities install the Domain Admin Tools. You can then use User Manager for Domains to connect and administer any workstation by using the workstation name as the domain name. You will of courseneed to have administrative access to every workstation.

From your workstation go in the network icon and go in the pdc. Then go into the c:\winnt\system32\usrmgr.exe. Make a shortcut of usrmgr.exe on your desktop and you will be able to change password of anybody from this computer

Hope this will help.
