Remote Access to Desktop through Internet

By slwade50 ·
I need to access my home computer (ADSL connection) from my laptop using a Clearwire connection. I'm assuming I'll need Wake up on LAN settings on the desktop unit and I'll be using a laptop with onboard NIC. WIN XP2 on both machines. What additional software am I going to need? Additional security measures? I use Zone Alarm, AVG Anti-Virus, and SpyBot on both machines.

How's this?

Setup the Remote Desktop on your home PC <> set your router to forward port 3389 to the home computer, configure the Zone Alarm to let it in (if you can) and use so you can use DNS to find your computer over the internet.

Thanks for the info. I got a recommendation from another source and am trying LogMeIn Free which is working out ok. The only thing I haven't done is work out wake on LAN on the home machine which I'll probably do next week.
Thanks again.
