Remote access to on a small DSL LAN

By micahstackhouse ·
So I am going to be networking a small office of 6 Windows 98 PC. They will all be peer to peer, I will probably use the Linksys DSL Router and BlackIce as a firewall. I would like to add a utility so the users can access the LAN over the internet. I know they can use FTP and etc but, I would like something more user friendly. Is this possible to do with out using something like PC anywhere? I do not want to have Lock up the usage of 1 PC each time somebody logs on remotely. Also since remote access may be of great distance I do not want to use direct dial-up. Also there will be primarily for file sharing, not applications.
Thanks!!!

Remote access to on a small DSL LAN

Hi, it sounds as if virtual private networking might work well for you. There is a lot of information about this on microsoft's website (search vpn, pptp, virtual private network). I believe there have also been articles on this site concerning setup specfically for windows 98. Essentially, you install PPTP (protocol) which allows you to access the lan through the internet (uses encryption).
Hope this points you in the right direction.
