Remote Admin of Exchange from Win2k Pro

    Locked

    by jeremy ·

I’ve installed Exchange Administrator on my Win2k Pro Workstation. When I try to connect to the Exchange Server, I get this message: “DS_E_INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_RIGHTS”. The TechNet solution to this is to install the RPC Configuration Service.

What I would like to know is:

    1) Is this possible in Win2k?
    2) Is there a workaround?

It can be done, I run Win2K pro and have no problem administering Exchange. I guess all I can say is make sure you have sufficient rights for the network and are not just logged on to your workstation.

I use Exchange Admin remotely on my W2k machine. But the first step is to give yourself rights to administer the exchange server. By default Exchange only gives those rights to the Administrator account.

Go to the highest point on your exchangetree from the exchange server and add your account to the list and give yourself all the rights. Do the same for the server and your problems should be solved.

Are you a member of the domain that the exchange server resides in? If not, there is your problem. If so, then ref the above answers.
