Remote control program?

By MJA ·
Is there a program that I can use on my local network (50 pc's) that will enable me to access a pc on the network? I remember Seagate had a program that when you placed the IP in the application it enabled me to look at the pc/files. Thanks

Remote control program?

If you are running Win2K on your desktops, you can use Microsofts NetMeeting to control the PC. This would require someone to be at the client PC to grant you control. There is numerous programs including, but not limited to PCAnywhere, Tivoli Remote Management, and others. My personal favorite and the one I use at home is VNC Viewer. It is free and easy to set up. One place to download it is:

Although if you searched google, you cound find dozens more....

The paid ones first;

PC Anywhere http://www.symantec.com
PC Duo http://www.vector-networks.com
RAdmin http://www.radmin.com

The free ones;

Remote assistance (XP only)
Netmeeting (shared desktop)
VNC http://www.realvnc.com/

For servers I personally use PC Anywhere unless Terminal Services are available (except on Alpha)

For workstations I use VNC unless remote assistance is available.

I have found the biggest bang for the buck in my humble opinion is Dameware. Check them out at www.damware.com. Most excellent remote program especially if you are running a NT or 2000 network. Heck you can even try the full version for 30 days before you buy. I've been using it for a while and it has never failed me yet. Smooth little program and you just can't beat the price.
