Remote controlled speakers

I have a ~26" TV about to go. And I want to replace it with a 24" widescreen ASUS monitor. (I already have the monitor, and want to save a few $$). The Monitor has a HDMI input - so the input from the Satellite receiver is set. But I need a way to wirelessly control the sound volume. I was thinking of connecting external speakers. (There are connections for external speakers. But the speakers need to have a wireless volume control.) The monitor has internal speakers - but no way to control the sound, since no computer would be hooked up. Reasonable sound is fine. I am not an audiophile. But everyone is aware how sound volume varies from station to station, and differs during commercials - Since I'll be sitting across the room - I only need a means to control the volume wirelessly.
Any suggestions?

Try reposting this in the 'Q&A' forum. The 'Discussion' forum is for matters of general discussion, not specific problems in search of a solution. The 'Water Cooler' is for non-technical discussions.

There are TR members who specifically seek out problems in need of a solution. Although there is some overlap between the two forums, you'll find more of those members in 'Questions' than in 'Discussions' or 'Water Cooler'.

Be sure to use the voting buttons to provide your feedback. Voting a '+' does not necessarily mean that a given response contained the complete solution to your problem, but that it did serve to guide you toward it. This is intended to serve as an aid to those who may in the future have a problem similar to yours, so that they might have a ready source of reference available, thereby perhaps obviating the need for them to repeat questions previously asked and answered.
