Remote Desktop

By tripp.holden ·
Hi, i am trying to allow remote administration of a windows 2k laptop by any number of machines (more than likely windows xp). I have the software installed on win2k and can connect and remotely administer other PCs with that machine, but when i try to connect to that machine and remotely administer it, it gives me an error:

"The client could not connect to the remote computer"

"remote Desktop might not be enabled..."

Anyways, this machine is a floater for our marketing department and needs to be up and running in 3 weeks, any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Windows 2k cannot be administered remotely from within Windows. You must install a third party client such as VNC server to do this.

Not sure my comment is clear. What I meant to say is that Windows 2K does not include a means to be controlled remotely. A third party client such as VNC or PC Anywhere (running in server mode) needs to be installed on the laptop.

Thanks for the post, but i had found my answer. Ignorantly, i didnt pay attn to the fact that TS wasnt installed on the 2k pro edition. Forgot that at some point but ran across a similar thread and realized my mistake. Anyway, it was up and running.

Be more specific about what you want to administer and what "the software" is

Sorry that you didnt understand, but i found it perfectly legible for someone familiar with the process as did the previous poster. The software was the Remote desktop client.
