How do I configure my Windows NT server so that I can access it via the remote desktop access set up on my PC?

Windows NT does not have 'remote desktop' capabilities as it is known in the WinXP/2003 world. In order to have remote access of the NT server desktop from your pc you must install and run a 3rd party program. I would recommend DameWare. Not only do you get remote desktop access, but you can control all functions of the server directly from your pc, from starting and stoping services, to a remote cmd prompt. Other programs you can use: pcAnywhere, Remotely Possible, Remotely Anywhere, VNC. Hope this helps. :)

I'll assume that the NT Server is on your LAN...configure NetMeeting for remote desktop access on both your XP/2k box and on the server box.

I use WinVNC (www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/) for remote access of servers and desktops. It can run as a service on server so that the server need not be logged onto already to connect to it. The client side can be either JAVA (http://servername:5800), so the server is accessible from any pc on the same network via a web page, or save the small client executable to your pc for more configurable access options.
