Remote Desktop Access Quit

By cccgsmith ·
I have successfully setup Remote Desktop Access on my home Win XP Pro PC and have used it. However, recently, when I went to use it, I cannot log into my PC. I make the connection, but I get an error message inidcating that I am not logging in correctly. However, I have triple checked my User name and Password and am positive it is correct. Since I have gotten access to my remote PC, I am sure it is not the firewall giving problems. What should I do to overcome this access problem?

What is the actual error message?

Nothing has changed at the target PC? You cannot enable fast user switching with Remote Desktop.

Make sure that in AdminTools, Security, Local Security Policy, Userrights, that logon from network is enabled.

That's about all I can suggest without more info.

The message is "Logon Message: The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type your password again. Letters in password must by typed in correct case." This occurs after I make connection with the remote PC, as I have the black Remote Desktop Access screen open, with the IP address showing at the top.

I am positive I am entering logon information correctly and I have made no changes to the PC I am trying to access other than possibly some Windows Updates. I have checked the Windows Firewall and it is set to enable Remote Desktop Access. I can use Remote Desktop Access to get access to other PC's, so the problem has to be with the remote PC. But I am not currently at the remote PC to check on other items.

I hope this gives you something to go on. Thanks.

You're going to have to have physical access or have someone else check it before you can go any further. Make sure you can login locally with the user/password you are attempting by remote.

Time to get this closed! Sorry for the delay. I can use RDA to another remote PC, so it has to be in the security settings of the PC I am trying to access.
