Remote Desktop connection fails after upgrading display card.

By isakgouk ·
I recently replaced the display adapter of My Dell Precision T3400 running windows XP with an ATI Radeon 4350 first and ATI FireGL V3600, and connected a Samsung 2994LW & LG Flatron L1**8S. In both case after configuring the setting, remote desktop will fail as soon as I enter my login and hit enter. Dell does not have a response for me. Can someone help, please.

Mostly you will find that the Telnet Services has stopped. Try starting it and put it on Automatic

Check the Remote Desktop video settings

Under Options, Display, and set them to 1024x768. If that works, up them one setting at a time and see what happens.

In the RDP window, before you connect, click Options. Then click on the Experience tab and make sure Bitmap Caching is turned off. That has workded for me in the past.

Video resolution?

by Gis Bun In reply to Remote Desktop connection ...

Verify that you have the latest RD client installed.

You may also need to drop the resolution and/or number of colors on the system.
