Remote desktop connection problem

by chevelle.h . Updated 20 years, 9 months ago

Im trying to remote desktop to my computer at home from work. My home computer is behind a router with a firewall and port forwarding/upnp forwarding. I am unable to connect to my home machine no matter what I try. I have enabled romote desktop on my home machine, opened port 3389 TCP in my router config utility, forwarded that port to the generic IP assigned to the machine Im trying to access.
The computer that Im trying to access it with is on a wireless network behind two routers. I know that I will probably not be able to access my computer at work from home because of the fact that it is behind two routers and I cannot access the admin utility of the first router due to security issues with the company. I have not removed the router at my home and tried to remote yet. Is there a setting in XP that I am missing that is preventing the connection? I have browsed all the settings within the firewall and made a few changes from default and still cannot connect. I can remote either machine from behind the router so I am thinking that the connection problem is due to the router or a problem with my internet connection. I have cable so my home comp is allways connected.
