Remote Desktop Console Lockout

When a remote connection is established in Win XP Pro the local console is locked out by default. You see the welcome screen on the local monitor. I would like to see what the remote user is doing (view the desktop locally). Also I would like to know when the remote session is finished. If you double click on the user icon on the welcome screen the remote user is disconnected. I don’t want to disconnect the rmote user but I can not tell when this user is finished. Any Idea how I can tell if the user is still connected and view what he is doing?
