    Remote Desktop through a router

    Locked

    by tom_in_nj ·

Is it possible to start a Remote Desktop session on the following configuration:

    Computer ‘A’ to
    Router ‘A’ to
    Internet to
    Router ‘B’ to
    Computer ‘B’

I do not want to connect either computer directly to the internet. I also do not want to put either computer in a DMZ.

As long as you preform port forwarding, it should be fine. Windows Remote Desktop operates on UDP port 3389 so just forward connections to Router B 3389 to Computer B.

You will also need to setup 1:1 NATing so that internal network at ‘Router B’ knows what to do with the packets.
