Remote ISDN dialling frequency OutlookXP

by araine . Updated 23 years ago

Running a Windows 2000 network with an Exchange/File & Print server, an SQL server (domain controller). Remote office has an Alchemy Gold router set to pull up an ISDN line when required and to drop it after 60 seconds of inactivity. This connects to a hub to which 2 x Win2K clients are connected. There is no server at th is remote office.
If the PCs are turned on but inactive, how many times per hour should I expect a line to be brought up? (presumably for normal network traffic) – and what can I do, if anything to reduce this traffic.
Also, I notice that if Outlook XP is left open a line is brought up every 2 minutes! This doesn’t happen with Outlook 2000 – has anynoe else encountered this?
