Remote Printing

By wblarkin ·
I have a VPN tunnel established router to router. I have a client that needs to print from the remote office to his laser at his home office. I have established a share on his home office computer for the printer, but the remote office can't see it, or use it. I can ping his home office computer from the remote office. What is the best way to print to this printer through the tunnel?? Can anyone help me. Thanks - Bill

i would remove the printer from the pc and install a hub/router and a print server for the printer.

This will also allow you to print even if the computer at the home office is off.

If the printer is shared on the home machine, and you can ping the machine, you should be able to print to it as well. Do you ping my machine name or IP? Which ever way you do it, you should be able to open a browser, and browse to the computer with the UNC format, \\computername OR IP. Then double clicking the shared printer will install the driver, and make it available to print with. This is true for XP Pro, and 2000, but not sure about 98.
