I am looking for a tool to run remote command line processes. (registering files, activating .bat files). All machines running NT 4.0.

Type "HELP AT | more" at your command line (without quotes). You can you this to schedule/activate processes on other machines. The resource kit comes with a GUI interface that makes using this even easier. Note that you will have to run the scheduler service on all machines that you want to control.

Ntreskit is the answer to your question.
There are several commands /programs to do this.

Install remote client: , 1. Start, run /cmd 2. change dir to the ntreskit dir, & type the following: rsetup \\machinename and hit enter. then type rclient \\machinename /l:domainname\admin name, it will query you for your password..then your in the remote machine as yourself... Another way is the rkill command rkill /install \\machinename , then rkill /view to view the list... rkill /nkill to stop a remote service (note you need to follow these with the workstation name) , soon command will also allow you to remote exe. the batch, exe, and other install files...for scheduled tasks you can use the at command. If you have techs who are not as fam. with the command line, winat can also run command line via a gui interface...Good Luck- al
