Remotely Terminating Processes

By jon.warne ·
Does anyone know how to Remotely shut down certain processes running in Task Manager on NT4.0 Server across a VPN. An ASP/SQL Application we have leaves instances of WINWORD.EXE running which we need to End on error events.

I've done this before using the RCMD (remote CMD) utility. It's part of the NT 4.0 resource kit. This will allow you to open a remote CMD session and run commands like your on the console. Use that with the "Kill.exe" utility and you can end any process.

For more info, look in the rktools.hlp file in the resource kit and search for RCMD.
