remove a shutdown option

By Mikalob ·
Is there a way to remove a shutdown option such as standby from the list of options displayed when a user shuts down?

yes if your running a W2K/XP/2003 Active Directory environment. one uses group policy. You can also restrict shutdown on local computers by enabling the local security policy option to allowing shutdown to only locally logged on users which greys out the shutdown option on the log on screen in W2K/XP/2003.

How to disable standby option on XP Pro. Below is a registry entry that may work:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\

Add the Attributes value under this key (REG_DWORD).

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ACPI\Parameters\Attributes

Set Attributes to 0x70 and reboot
