Remove Child domain

By dennisbv ·
I have a network that has a child domain that because of some mistakes made with DNS or Active Directory so I want to remove it, and get things cleaned up. I am planing on deleting the site and Domain and records from DNS. I have tried to correct the DNS but I need to get this corrected ASAP. This child domain was set up as a test domain, but because of two many hands and not enough knowledge it is messed up. I want to get this cleaned up, so what problems would this plan
create? Or I am open to other sugestions on how to correct this, but I need the fix to be quick and sure.

Logged in to your parent domain, you can use the adsiedit tool to delte this information from dns and from your forest. This is the only way to make sure it is gone, or if you still have the child domain up and communicating, you can run dcpromo and demote it. Answer yes to the question 'is this the last domain controller for this domain' this will make AD happy and life should return to normal. I have done this many times and have yet to see any abnormal results. If you need more specific or step by step instructions, let me know and i will get you a quick list.
