Open the computer and remove the cmos battery for approximately five minutes and reinstall
Look for a jumper near the battery and cpu and configure jumper to off position and reboot computer, then replace the jumper to original configuration
Make aback up of the Configuration,of CMOS Panel in case, configuration info is deleted

You probably have to call them. look at the gateway support page

http://www.gateway.com/support/manlib/Notebooks/Maintain/8507029/index.htm

it states:

You forgot your startup password

The password feature is very secure, with no easy way to recover a forgotten password. You must return your computer for repair. Call Client Care for instructions.

Send me an e-mail if you need some help with that. I have a utility that will allow you to remove it or change it...

I have used it on a knucklehead that works with me who locked our IS department out of his computer and he wanted us to fix his computer. So I needed to get in somehow to make sure his BIOS was properly set...

Anywho, let me know.

go to your motherboard's user's manual and read for the jumper that resets passwords. Your manual will tell you how to reset your passwords. If you cannot find your manual go to your montherboard's manufacturer's website for an online manual or contact your motherboard's manufactuerer.
