Remove desktop shortcut in Vista

By dorothynal ·
New computer came with program loaded that I did not want. Removed program via control panel however, short cuts on desktop are still there. Tried moving them to the recycle bin, but it doesn't work. I'm not a techie, so need help in easy to understand format.

it from the Users\Public\Desktop. Open a windows explorer window, click to expand c: (or whatever the drive letter is that Vista is installed on) click to expand Users, click to expand Public and then click on Desktop which you will see when you expand Public. You should now see the desktop icons on the right side of the window. Delete the icon you do not want.
