By shawnj985 ·
I have a windows 2003 server with a removable ide hard drive tray. How can I configure it via win2003 server that this drive is removable for hot-swappable purposes. thanks.

sounds like you need to disable the write cache on the drive. i am not sure of the steps but i bet they are in Windows help...
to my knowlege windows can't do this for a normal ide interface hard drive. i would investigate that and controller boards that might work at places like and other raid controller makers...
maybe to do as you wish, i'd install a firewire interface and get me an external firewire drive. about a buck a gigabyte...
