This should be fairly easy to do. I hope you're somewaht familiar with old DOS. What you need to do first is have a win98 boot disk. reboot the system with it and go to the C: drive. In the root you have a hidden file called NTLDR delete this file, you can also delete boot.ini (also hidden) to unhide files you need the attrib -r -s -h filename command. Once these are gone go back to the A: drive and sys the drive with the command sys c: (enter) and voila you have a dos boot record again. If necessary you can also get rid of the winnt folder

first in 98 right click the nt drive and see if you can format it otherwise you will need partion magic or something to reformat your ntfs partion when you fix that reboot from a 98 startup disk and at the prompt type sys c

Hi, let me add to respondent #1. You'll delete boot.ini, ntldr, ntdetect.com, bootsect.dos. Since your nt partition was ntfs, you can use use nt to remove that. Using your three disks, go through the steps as if you were doing an install. When you get to the text screen that asks you what partition you want to put on, you have an option to delete existing partitions. You can delete the NTFS partition at that point and then simply discontinue the install. You'll then be left with only the 98 partition. Good luck.

first of all!!!!! make a copy of boot.ini in the c and stick it on your boot floppy.
then double click your boot.ini file on c:and remove the lines which points to your NT O/S. there will also be a default O/S make sure that its win98. Then bootfrom A: and copy a hidden file called NTLDR to your a:
After you copied the file delete it from c and reboot.
