There are 3rd party software programmes that can be used to do this i will look out the programme i used to do this and will send it to you, but apart from that i do not know of this being a default windows 2000 feature...
If you want to remove ALL icons then open a group policy snap-in and go to User config/admin templates/desktop. Enable the hide all icons on desktop policy. It is explained as follows.
"Removes icons, shortcuts, and other default and user-defined items from the desktop, including Briefcase, Recycle Bin, My Computer, and My Network Places.
Removing icons and shortcuts does not prevent the user from using another method to start the programs or opening the items they represent."
Remember if you set it as the local policy it will affect all users.
